The Works of Douglas Alan

Douglas Alan is in a unique position to write stories, having lived and traveled throughout the world: from living in the UK, to staying at five star hotels on expense account in Tokyo, Paris, Sao Paolo, and Johannesburg, to being broke in San Francisco. He finally ended up living in Thailand for 11 years, and now resides in Siem Reap in Cambodia. His published works have been in the technical area, over a dozen books, including boring but necessary titles as "PHP 8 Programming Tips and Tricks" and "PHP 8 Programming in the AI Era" (Packt Publishing).

Further Indications

Have you ever wondered about the meaning of life? Have you ever wondered if a person standing six feet from the epicenter of an atomic bomb blast feels any pain? The narrator of this story and his unwitting friends have the satisfyingly unfortunate experience of finding out the answer to both questions. The protagonists include a man who never wears a coat and is a firm believer in stating the obvious. Another involves the narrator in a love triangle and is eventually revealed as trans-gender on the Jerry Springer Show. A third always wears a ski mask and has determined that the Earth is actually a ride in a cosmic amusement park, the only way to get off being to die. Through these and other equally eccentric characters, the reader is transported on a world tour incorporating elements of the exotic orient, historic Europe, and counter-cultural San Francisco. read on...
